Chitika Ads Ridiculously Low CTR

Sample Chitika Advertisment

Sample Chitika Advertisment Quality

If you are Wondering why your Chitika Advertisements do not get a Good Click through rate it could be simply that Chitika show ridiculous ads most of the Time. Most of the Time when I view websites with Chitika Ads the Quality of the Chitika Ads are very low most of the advertisements are biding on misspellings and linking to low quality search engines much like when Google can’t find the Answer ask.com will have an advertisement saying they can help you find it.There is a Chitika competitive ad and advertiser url blocker which I have tried to use but with little results Chitika Ads may work on some keyword rich sites but they will not work on most types of blogs as the Chitika Code will not Collapse when there are no relevant ads to show instead it will display some ridiculous advertisement making your Chitika CTR low and your Chitika Earnings as these types of ads are not going to bid high paying keywords as most of them are using a default CPM bid.Try to filter out and Blacklist some advertiser urls or just try out another network if Chitika Ads are not making you much money online.

Why Not To Use 160×600 Ad Units

Using the 106 x 600 banner will kill any higher paying ads displaying on your site. Each time I enable a 160×600 Adsense unit I see my Adsense ecpm drop to less than $1.00 for US traffic sometimes even as low as a few cents. The CTR for the 160×600 is also very low as people are not only used to 160×600 ad units but using a popular ad format you can fall victim to advertisers who target low paying adformats using placement targeting. This results in the same advertisers showing on each of your pages and lowering CTR leaving you with many visitors seeing irrelevant ads.

Then there is the problem of rich media ads showing in the 160×600 ad units if you have such a large section of your pages running flash your page will gain page load time and your search engine rankings can be effected. Try other Adsense formats and test them but if you keep running large banner ads do not expect to earn much from adsense. You may read on high traffic blogs that the 160×600 is a good performing unit but maybe this is because they are the type of advertisers targeting the ad unit to get their advertising for less with Google AdWords placement targeting.

Using Adsense Alternatives for your Homepage

Why it is not a Good Idea to Show Adsense on your Homepage

Your Homepage is Visited by the Majority of your Visitors and possibly multiple times per visitor resulting in Higher Impressions but lower Click through Rates.

This is Why I am Not using Adsense on my Homepage
Every time A visitor Comes to my Blog they will look at my homepage but these are mostly returning visitors or people with banner blindness so in order to increase adsense earnings I have to increase the Click through Rate.So by placing an Alternative Ad network on my Homepage there are less Adsense Impressions made resulting in a Higher CTR for Adsense.

Adsense Alternatives for your Homepage

So why not Sell your ad space with BidVertiser or another PPC company on your Homepage because these clicks will not pay as much as Adsense but they have a lower payout via Paypal. Adsense on your Homepage Normally leads to Lower paying Clicks because it is Contextual Advertising and works best inside blog posts .With Bidvertise I can choose more Revevent Ads to Display on my Homepage and keep my CTR for my Adsense Account at a Good Rate.

Other Reasons not to place Adsense on the Homepage

Other Reasons are that when I publish a new post I am at Risk of Being Smart Priced where other sites can be paid much more money per click than they will pay me for a click on my latest post.Think about Adsense Alternatives for your Homepage try using the WordPress Plugin Widget logic so you can control which Ads Show on Posts and Pages.Remember Adsense Works best inside the content and when your CTR is Low you will Also be Paid less per Click. So try to only show Adsense inside the content on Single Post and not on pages that people frequently Visit like your Homepage.
