I check my email every half hour and my stats about the same so instead of checking mail I am going to write a post. Repetitive habits can lead to very little production but are hard to give up so how do you stop doing things so often.Thinking more about the time we spend online and thinking about what we do when we are surfing the web are two very different things. We could sit and watch our Facebook or Twitter stream all day and not do anything so how do you try to find ways to control your surfing habits.
One way to do this is to just say no and do not give into social networking sites every time you see a facebook or twitter badge on a website not that there is anything wrong with spending time on these sites and meeting other bloggers and unless you are getting paid to tweet wasting much time if twitter traffic is not visiting your blog.As webmasters and bloggers they can consume most of our time online and leave us with very little to show after spending 8 hours or more online. When we could be working on increasing our Ad revenue and Affiliate Payments.
Next turn off all Facebook notifications someone may like your post but did they visit your site and leave a comment if they like your story that much they could also Digg and stumble it.Another things is tell other blogs that are slow loading that you like their content but the speed their sites load at are just too slow and you will not bother visiting them just for this reason this will also save you time if 10 sites you visit a day take 50 seconds each to load that is 5 minutes of your time wasted,as webmasters we could visit 100 sites a day.
Take the advice from Matt Cutts when he wrote about blocking social media sites for a week you can read how to block these site by reading Doing the “Digital Cleanse”: no Twitter for a week .You may not have to goto this extreme but turning off email notifications and just spending more time reading and creating content. If you check your mail 10 times a day try checking it 9 Tomorrow the same with Social networking sites how much traffic do you really get from these sites and how much time do you invest in them.
